Traveling to Puerto Galera
One of the first things you need to do is decide on a destination. Don’t arrive in Manila and step off the plane with no idea about where you want to go. If possible, plan your first few days before you arrive. If you’re coming to BADLADZ, check out the Directions page for step-by-step instructions on how to get to Puerto Galera.
Depending on what time during the day you arrive, you may want to stay in Manila for your first night. If so, arrange a room before you get onto your plane.
There are a couple of reasons why you want to plan for the first few days:
- If you aimlessly wander around, you make yourself a target. Locals will see that you’re lost and may try to mislead you. Put simply, it is safer if you plan out your first few days. Once you get the hang of the country, then you can start thinking about being spontaneous.
- If you have no idea where you’re staying, you’ll waste time and you’ll also waste money. By checking online first, you’ll find the best price and when you arrive, you can go straight to your accommodation.

Philippines Travel Guide
Any video or list of Philippines travel tips would be incomplete without something about your luggage. When you come to the Philippines, you don’t need to bring much.
Remember, it’s a developing country. Most of the people here are very poor. Don’t bring flashy clothes or jewelry. Bring a few pairs of shorts and a few pairs of t-shirts or singlets. Pack a few sets of clothes and leave it at that. There are Laundry shops EVERYWHERE to have them cleaned for cheap.
If you wanted to, you could skip the bag altogether. Like most countries, you can buy everything you need in the Philippines. There are clothing shops with Western brands plus Chinese, and Thailand fashion stores for cheaper alternatives.
The key point here is to pack light. It will make your trip to the Philippines very easy. Rather than worrying about your luggage, you’ll be able to focus on enjoying your holiday.
Grab a backpack and commit to only taking what you can fit into the backpack. That will force you to cut down.
Philippines Travel Tips
Another good point on Philippines travel tips is that you’ll want a waterproof bag. While it’s not 100% necessary, it will help with peace of mind. Since the Philippines is an island nation, you’ll be constantly getting on and off boats. In a tropical climate, it also rains a lot. You might get caught in the rain on the back of a motorcycle or while you’re out enjoying the Puerto Galera nightlife. A waterproof bag would be great for situations like that.
That’s it for the Philippines travel guide today.
Remember:
Know your destination and pack light.
Cheers,
