Happy Holidays Philippines

[2017] BADLADZ Christmas Party

BADLADZ X-Mas Party was celebrated on December 17, Sunday at BADLADZ Beach Resort. All the staff assigned from different BADLADZ properties gathered together to celebrate and have fun.

After our stomach was full, the next event was the exchange gift. Exchange gift here at BADLADZ is different compared to any other exchange gifts out there. Let me tell you why.

Here at BADLADZ, we made the exchanging of gifts more exciting. One way of exchanging gifts you pick your number and choose your gifts on the table and that’s it the gift is yours.

There has been a lot of changes for the BADLADZ staff present from the last year’s Christmas party and this year we have a total of 80 participants, staff and guest altogether.

All the staff are divided into four teams,

  • Team B1 (BADLADZ Dive Resort)
  • Team B2 (BADLADZ Beach Resort)
  • Team B3 (Pampered Spa)
  • Team B4 – Embroidery (BADLADZ Apartments and Embroidery Shop)

Preperation

Same as last year we started preparing for the Christmas Party mid-afternoon. We closed the hallway from the entrance and prepared long tables for each team. We also rented a Karaoke Machine to play some party music and for the sound system.

The kitchen staff prepared a lot of food and desserts. We had Fried Chicken, Lumpia, Grilled Pork and many more, for dessert we had Salad, Grahams, Coffee Jelly and BEERS.

All of these will be eaten in an exciting way, by a Boodle Fight.

Boodle Fight Dinner

For those of you who don’t know what Boodle Fight is, let me tell you more about it.

Boodle fight is a Filipino traditional way of eating where they put a big pile of food on a long table and everybody stands around it to eat with their bare hands.

With this set up usually the food is served on top of the table lined with banana leaves, rice is placed at the center, and viands are placed either on top or around the rice.

No utensils needed for this type of eating since you will only need your bare hands. This is definitely not fine dining but the experience will surely be an exciting one.

So now that we caught up with what is Boodle Fight let’s go back to what happened at BADLADZ.

We set up banana leaves and put in the food we prepared, wrapped them with the banana leaves, and placed them on all four long tables for the BADLADZ teams to enjoy.

It was around 7 PM when everyone arrived at the resort, even though the weather is not that good since it was raining the whole day because of the typhoon, which did not stop any of the staff and guests to come and participate in this yearly event.

After a short prayer, the Boodle Fight started.

Everyone sure looks very hungry as we start digging in. It only took us like 10 to 20 minutes and what’s left of the food is just the banana leaves. There is plenty of food for everyone and we all got our stomachs full.

After dinner, we cleaned all the long tables and set them aside as we get ready for exchanging gifts.

Exchanging Gifts

Exchanging Gifts here at BADLADZ is always as fun as ever because of how we do it.

The exchanging gifts here is what we call the “Stealing Gifts” where the gifts that you select can be stolen twice and you can also steal other gifts that you like from other participants.

For example, if you are #1 you get to pick any gifts on the table first and you have to open them in front of everyone but that doesn’t mean that the gift is going to stay yours.

Then on the #2’s turn, they will have a chance to steal the gift that the #1 selected or choose another gift on the table. A gift can be stolen 2 times and then it’s locked to the last person who stole it. This will go on until the last number.

This year there are a total of 59 exchanging gifts participants and the theme is something you can use at home for the amount of PHP350. Through the exchanging gift, there is a lot of commotion because most of the gifts were stolen by the other participants.

Most of the gifts are blankets, pillows, teddy bears, electric kettle, water jug, gas stove burner, glassware, dish organizer, and many more.

After the very last number for the exchange gifts, it’s time now for the next part of the program, the Party Games.

Party Games

Last year we haven’t got any party games but this year to spice things up we prepared a total of 6 party games.

These party games are:

  • Tinapay na Nakasabit
  • Eggplant Relay
  • Calamansi Fruit Relay
  • Finding Coins
  • Apple Bite
  • Putukan ng Balloon

These are local games that all of us really enjoyed, first game we had was the “Tinapay na Nakasabit”.

Tinapay na Nakasabit

Tinapay na Nakasabit meaning hanged bread is an exciting game that everybody enjoyed.

To play this game, a player will tie a string to their toe hanged above them, and on the other end is white bread and they have to balance to get a bite on the break, the fastest team that can eat the whole bread wins.

After that is the Eggplant relay.

Eggplant Relay

Eggplant relay is a classic game played on any kind of event here in the Philippines.

To play this game they should have a string with an eggplant tied at the end, they then tie it around their waist with the eggplant hanging between their legs. After doing so, an egg will be placed on the floor and they have to hit the egg to the finish line.

The first team that hit the egg with the eggplant to the finish line wins.

The next game is the Calamansi fruit relay.

Calamansi Fruit Relay

This game is also considered a common game for Filipino’s. Calamansi is a Lime fruit used for this game.

The game is played by groups, they will bite a spoon steady by their mouth and place the lime fruit on top of the scoop of the spoon and they will pass it on to their teammate till it reaches the last person on the team.

The first team that will get the lime fruit to the last member using the spoon without dropping it wins.

Finding Coins

This next game here is one of the games that are most popular because of its excitement.

In this game there will be a plate full of powder and hidden underneath is a coin. The players now will find the coin under the powder without using their hands, so their blowing power will come in handy.

They will blow and blow till they find the coin, the first one that will pick up the coin using their lips wins.

Apple Bite

This game is most likely for couples since this will be a game for partners.

To play this there will be an apple tied to a string and hang above, then a partner player will stand with the apple between them. The goal is to eat the apple without touching them, the first partner that eats the whole apple wins.

Putukan ng Balloon

Putukan ng Balloon meaning Balloon popping. This game is also played by teams, and this is so much fun that’s why we put it as the very last game.

This game goes like this, the team will line up with a chair ahead of them, the first in the line will go towards the chair, will put the balloon on their lap and the second player will run towards the first player and will pop the balloon with our using their hands.

To pop the balloon they can only sit on it as hard as they can while it is laying on the lap of the first player.

All of us were laughing and obviously enjoying every part of this game.

All these party games made us all laugh and everybody participated. This part of the party will surely be a memorable one.

Party Time

After the fun and games, the Christmas party did not stop there. This is the time where the Beers, Gin and the Margarita start coming out, some even start drinking while playing the party games.

Some of us already went home because of the early work schedule the next day but most of us stayed and have something to drink and have some more fun.

All in all the BADLADZ X-Mas Party 2017 was a complete success, despite the bad weather all the staff and guests had a great time here at BADLADZ Beach Resort.

We will surely have this next year and too many years to come.

[2016] Happy Holidays Philippines and International Friends from BADLADZ

On December 20, 2016, Tuesday we had our company Christmas party. All the staff from different BADLADZ establishments gathered here at our BADLADZ Beach Resort to celebrate.

We are talking about almost 60 staff from our BADLADZ Dive Resort, BADLADZ Apartments, and Pampered Spa. And also some of our guests that joined the party.

BADLADZ Christmas Party

Preparation

Mid-afternoon we started preparing for the awaited party. This is when our kitchen gets really busy. Cook’s started preparing for the menus. We had spaghetti, fried chicken, lumpia, grilled pork, spare ribs, salads, and of course the ice-cold beers and gin.

Just after the sunset at the beautiful beach here in Puerto Galera people arrived one by one. From lone rangers to whole families. There was a variety of people who came to the BADLADZ Christmas Party.

BADLADZ Christmas Party

Dinner Time

Our emcee/DJ started playing music to signal the start of the party, it was 7 pm and everyone is already in the area. The party started with a small prayer to thank the Lord for the wonderful event and then after that, it was dinner time.

We lined up in front of the long table of food and started digging in. The food was great, and there was plenty for everyone.

Exchanging Gifts

After our stomach was full, the next event was the exchange gift. Exchange gift here at BADLADZ is different compared to any other exchange gifts out there. Let me tell you why.

Here at BADLADZ we made the exchanging of gifts more exciting. One way of exchanging gifts you pick your number and choose your gifts on the table and that’s it the gift is yours.

To start off, you’ll select your number. If you get #1 you get to pick any gifts on the table first and open it in front of everyone but that doesn’t mean that the gift is going to stay yours.

Then it’s #2’s turn they will have a chance to steal the gift that the #1 selected or choose another gift on the table. A gift can be stolen a maximum of 2 times and then it’s locked to the last person who stole it. This will go on until the last number.

The theme for the exchange gifts this year is something you can use at home for the maximum amount of 300PHP. So what kind of gift can you buy for 300PHP?

Well mostly there were things like kitchen wares, blankets, pillows, emergency lights and one secret box had three bottles of gin.

This is exciting and so much fun for all the staff and guests. This kind of exchanging of gifts is how we usually do it at our BADLADZ Christmas party each year.

Party Time

Everyone got their gifts and they seem to be satisfied with what they received. Next, it was party time, before the party started we already mixed some drinks and had a lot of beers to spice up the night.

As the night goes on and the beers are starting to run out, people are starting to leave. Some already went home while some stuck around to enjoy more with the Puerto Galera nightlife.

It was a great night and an awesome party to have before 2016 ends. If you want to have the same kind of experience, you can always come and visit us at BADLADZ Beach Resort during the holidays or any time of the year and well make sure that you’ll enjoy your stay.

[2012] BADLADZ Christmas Party

We’ve now all survived the end of the Mayan calendar and it’s the time when everybody start’s thinking about their next year.

Where will you be in one year? Puerto Galera Resort

Where do you want to be in one year?

Perhaps you want to get that promotion at work, or maybe to take a month off to travel. Well, I can tell you if your resolution is to travel and have more fun, there’s never been a better year to come to BADLADZ.

Let me lay out the reasons I love this place so you can judge for yourself if this is the place for you:

  1. Morning beach walks with the sunrise followed by a hot mug of freshly brewed coffee
  2. WiFi internet access from a hammock; quite the opposite from my old office.
  3. Being greeted by staff every day with a “Good morning sir!”
  4. No rules – sometimes I’ll decide to leave for the day and go swimming or for a motorcycle ride
  5. Vibrant nightlife in Sabang or White Beach when I feel like letting off some steam

There are a few more reasons, but I think this should suffice. The moral of the story is if you’ve been wishing for the perfect time to take that vacation you’ve been dreaming of, make the decision and do it. The last time I checked, there are seven days in a week, and “Someday” isn’t one of them.

Make your decision and stick with it!

[2011] BADLADZ Christmas Party

“We’re here at Badladz.”

“It’s December. we’re having Christmas on the beach. This is our Christmas party. We just all wanna wish you a Merry Christmas from all the waitresses at badladz. Go ahead, girls…”

Meet the waitresses of Badladz!

On Sunday the 4th of December, more than 50 people squeezed into the Badladz Beach Resort restaurant.

The Puerto Galera weather gods showered us with rain all night (no snow in the Philippines!).

Mid-afternoon, the festivities began. Ice cold beers and finger food on the back lawn. One by one, people arrived. From lone rangers to whole families living here (yes, it’s possible to live here with kids!), there was a variety of people who had come to the Badladz Christmas Party.

As the afternoon passed, the rain came down harder and harder. Eventually, everyone moved inside to the restaurant to continue the party.

To celebrate the occasion, a pig had been slowly roasting all day. A pig-on-a-spit!

f you’ve never tasted one, you’ll have to make it to Badladz for next year’s Christmas party. The meat is tender and you’ve got a near-lifetime supply of crackle. Like all good celebrations, there was an abundance of food. Along with the pig, numerous tasty dishes filled the table.

When dinner was sitting comfortably in our stomachs, the party continued. Since it was the Christmas party, gifts were on the menu. Being the tropics, Santa doesn’t make it all the way here, so we had to get our own gifts!

Almost 50 people joined in the gift swapping session. You get a number. #1 picks a present. #2 can either steal that present or pick a new one. #3 does the same as #2. The process continues till there are no presents left.

What sort of outrageous presents came out?

Well, by far the most common presentation was a jug and cups. It was unofficially dubbed a “gin juice set”. If you want to know what gin juice is, you’ll just have to come to stay at Badladz!

If a gin juice set didn’t interest someone, there were other options. A dartboard was floating around the room, along with a teddy bear, a cowboy hat, and even a baby doll.

As the night wore on, people slowly drifted off. Some went home while some went to entertain themselves with the exciting Puerto Galera nightlife.

It was a great night. If you want to have a great time in Puerto Galera, you’ll have to stay at Badladz Adventure Resort or Badladz Beach Resort!

See you soon!
