Your Guide to Traveling and Living in the Philippines: What Every Foreigner Should Know About Southeast Asia

You are about to read a great book on “Traveling and Living in the Philippines”. Hopefully, this means you are ready for a life-changing experience!

This book contains proven steps and strategies on how to have fun and enjoy your stay in the country whether you are just a tourist or plan to stick around a while without encountering a lot of problems. The last seventeen years have provided me with some very valuable lessons and the ability to write these amazing travel books while I’ve been living in the Philippines. I’d like to share them with you here.

Living in the Philippines can be both very familiar and very strange. Let me explain…

Despite the obvious poverty experienced by the majority of Filipinos, and the average cost of living in the Philippines being low for western standards; many of them figure out a way to make due by any means possible. Just about everyone has a cellphone, a TV, and a refrigerator while some figure out a way to start a small business in the Philippines and do quite well. They wear jeans and shirts, shorts and miniskirts. Many Western ideas have found root here, as have American movies, TV shows, music, restaurants, and books.

Yet it’s a very conservative country too. The Roman Catholic Church is very influential here, which is why the Philippines is the only country left in the world (aside from the Vatican City itself) where divorce is not legal.

With these travel books, you’ll have a better chance of making sense of it all! And of course, this book also tells you where to go to have lots of fun and adventure.

Traveling in the Philippines can be a little more complex than some may be used to. If you’re going to another island from Manila, you will experience many modes of transportation. Just traveling across the city you could use 3 modes of transportation, let alone to another island. I discuss each of these and most importantly another hot topic is “how to deal with taxi drivers in the Philippines?

I answer the big question, “is it safe to travel in the Philippines?” Many people ask this question and I answer it in this book.

In this book, I will discuss the following:
  • Nine Things You Must Avoid In The Philippines
  • Police and Corruption in the Philippines
  • Average Cost of Living in the Philippines
  • Teaching English in the Philippines
  • Is It Safe to Travel in the Philippines
  • Business Opportunities and How to Avoid Failure
  • Shopping in the Philippines
  • Fun and Adventure in the Philippines
  • Getting Visas in the Philippines
  • General Travel Advice for the Philippines
  • Getting Around in the Philippines
  • Places to Visit in the Philippines

Thanks again for considering this book, and I trust you’ll enjoy reading it as others have!

Diving

Your Definitive Guide to Scuba Diving in Puerto Galera

So you’re planning a holiday for some scuba diving in Puerto Galera here in the Philippines. Congratulations! You’ve made a great decision. Puerto Galera has some of the most diverse coral reef diving in the world.
Year round, Puerto Galera has great weather, ideal visibility, current, and water temperature. Whether you prefer checking out sea life, exploring shipwrecks, cave diving, or underwater photography, you’ll find it in Puerto Galera.

Who Am I?

My name is Sean Cooney, and I own and operate BADLADZ Adventure Resorts here in Puerto Galera that include a Dive Resort and a Beach Resort. Originally from Canada, I came to the Philippines on a 2-week vacation in 1999 and never went home!. We hear that story a lot around here.

When you look around at the gorgeous beaches, the tropical weather, the fantastic diving, and the signature laid-back attitude of Filipinos, it’s not hard to see why people get attached.

I know that Puerto Galera is nothing short of a diamond in the rough, especially for divers. I’ve been diving here since 1999, so I can tell you all about the amazing shipwrecks, rare and beautiful sea life, top dive spots, and more. But when we went to find an all-encompassing resource to share with our divers at the resort we couldn’t find anything. That’s when we decided to create our own guide for diving in Puerto Galera.

In this book, you’ll learn what to do and what NOT TO DO to enjoy your Dive Experience

A taste of what you’ll learn in this book:
  • 6 Things You Didn’t Know About Puerto Galera
  • When to Dive in Puerto Galera
  • An Introduction to the Puerto Galera Dive Sites
  • Puerto Galera Marine Life
  • What Dive Gear Should I Bring to Puerto Galera?
  • 4 Reasons to Earn your PADI Certification in Puerto Galera
  • Finding the Best Dive Shops and Accommodation

I am here to provide the first-ever comprehensive resource that divers can use to plan their PUERTO GALERA DIVE ADVENTURE. Just like all other adventures in life when you have all the information that you need, you can make an informed decision.

I look forward to seeing you here in the Philippines when you come for your holiday diving in Puerto Galera.

This book contains lessons learned, rules to live by and business opportunities in the Philippines to consider when you’re looking at starting a business in the Philippines and hopefully without encountering a lot of problems. The last seventeen years has provided me with some very valuable lessons when starting a small business in the Philippines. I’d like to share them with you here.
